New Update

Hey Folks,

Moshu posted a primer on what the new update is officially going to hold. Does anyone have a Test Server farm? I have started one out of curiosity but it probably won't be up and running enough to test all the new content/game changes. There were some interesting changes to livestock and a significant change involving the silage/exchange issue. I'd be interested to know folks thoughts on how it might change the way the game works.

  1. No more storing in exchange board lol. Dont affect me since i dont store there but cant say e same for others. i think e quality boost onli affect u if u're starting a new batch of animal but not if u alr hav high quality animals rite? cause breeding animals give u offsprings with the same quality?

  2. I don't think the silo upgrades will give enough space especially since animal productivity and crop yields are going to increase as well.

I'm also skeptical about the profitability of bees since Moshu mentioned they'd be sensitive to the weather.

I guess I should start saving up money for all the new upgrades, particularly the ones for raising animal quality/productivity. The shift to the new breeds is going to be a hassle but it should be worth it if I can get more milk using less OOF.

  3. I have a test server farm, only small, but I will let you know....

I think the storage issue is going to be significant given we will no longer be able to use the exchange board for short term storage, we will have to have a lot of surplus storage capacity to cope. I do wonder if Moshu thinks this will mean people will sell more cereals to teh market, and that more will be available year round though

  4. New contents on crops, livestock and workshop are only accessible if you had completed at least the veteran accomplishments. I'll upgrade a few cereal plots to have more yield, raising the dairy cows for more cow milk, and further upgrade diary workshop to produce more butter using less ingredients. (I had completed the veteran chicken meat, eggs, cow milk, cereals and dairy accomplishment)
I have a test server farm, and will let you know if any finding there.

  5. I see. Well that's interesting. I guess I should work on getting the veteran organic workshop accomplishment.

  6. I think the added breeds are going to be helpful. The 3X growth rate is nice to send with them and I'm glad it's only available at the higher levels. This will still take 32 game days to get to 7* and I'm curious if it will apply to bonus productivity/fertility, but it's only feasible if you are phasing out the old stock slowly and if you have all of the other accomplishments already in place.

As far as the crops go, if the higher yielding cereals are enough I may need to grow a plot of each to get the OOF I need for a few cows and a coop full of chickens.

  7. Next upgrade on silo size is $10000 for additional size 1000.
Basic Greenhouse, cost $5000, increase temperature range +/- 2 C, wind resistance 25% and fungal and pest resistance 5%.

  8. The cost for the extra silo upgrade is ridiculous... I expected it to be $4000 to reach 4000 storage then another $6000 to reach 5000 storage. But $10K for just 1000 storage space is really expensive... It's like it's not even worth filling up your silo with maturing wines/alcohols if it costs that much to store them.

  9. Seems like a lot of the livestock is only available for the higher levels of accomplishments too. I think the update was geared at keeping those who are later levels interested with things to earn.

  10. I think all the new breeds need you to complete the relevant (egg/milk/meat) veteran accomplishment.

I just read on the forums that the 5th silo upgrade which increases storage from 4000 to 5000 costs $20,000. This is really too much.

  11. I think 4th and 5th silo upgrades are useful for large farm (49 to 64 plots of land). I can earn more than $10K net profit per turn, with only 39 tile of land. For them, i think they can earn more than 15K. So, 30K to upgrade silo storage will not be an issue for large farm.
At certain stage, you'll realize that you have too much money but nothing is available to invest, because you already fully upgraded workshops, barns, coops, and bought all available tools and lands. So, why not upgrade silo storages to save one or two plots of land?

  12. My finding on crops....
You'll receive only 50 hay instead 100 when harvesting cereals.
If you had completed veteran accomplishment, you can grow crops with higher resistance. If you had done semipro accomplishment, you can grow fast growth crops (optimal growth for cereals is 22% instead of 15%). Then, you can grow the "yield crops" (+25% yield) when you finished professorial accomplishment.

  13. The reason I find the silo upgrade prices ridiculous is because most players will end up buying 8 or more silos upgraded to level 3 and then later they bulldoze some of them to free up land and then upgrade the remaining ones to level 5. I don't think upgrades should be like that. It should be a natural progression, not cheap over-expansion and then downsizing for better efficiency.

Wow, 'yield' crops are a long way into the future. There aren't even any professional farms on the US1 and UK servers.
